No. BinaryLane is an unmanaged VPS service. You have full administrative access to your BinaryLane servers, enabling you to manage your own servers.
What we support:
- The infrastructure layer, and ensuring everything is working up to your VPS.
- The network, hardware, virtualisation, our core operating system installs, our control panel, and all related mPanel services to getting and keeping your VPS online.
What we don't provide support for:
- Issues "within" your VPS, including software installation, configurations and management, or issues with applications or services you run on your VPS.
How support works on an unmanaged VPS
BinaryLane is customer-managed infrastructure. We make sure everything up to your server's operating system is working. You have full root (or Administrator) access to the server, but not to the hypervisor underneath it, which BinaryLane manages. You choose and install the operating system and configure the software on it.
We can give general guidance where feasible, but this is not managed support: we do not log in to your server or work on its software for you. If you need hands-on help, or are not comfortable working on the command line, consider an external systems administration service.
Who updates the software on my server?
You do. BinaryLane does not apply operating system or software updates, such as PHP updates, to your server. Because we do not apply them, there is no BinaryLane-side record of when a particular version was installed. Check your server's own package manager history and logs instead, for example /var/log/apt/history.log on Ubuntu and Debian, or dnf history on AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux.
Does BinaryLane access the data on my server?
No. BinaryLane does not access the data stored within your VPS. The operating system, its credentials and your data are managed by you.
